Playing catch up with my social media

Wow that was a busy summer of photography, I am not complaining I have loved every minute of it. My work is so varied it never gets boring one day I am shooting a tiny little newborn only a few days old the next I am taking a portrait of a CEO of a London legal firm. Even the product photography can become absorbing and all consuming, in my work I am a perfectionist so the devil really is in the detail.

Take the Wedding flowers I shoot, its not all about he composition and getting the lighting right, its about every leaf and every petal looking the best it can look.

Life is pretty messy when you look at it close up on your PC screen, leaves and petals have nibbles, holes, growths, fungus, bugs, rips, colour variations all have to spotted, studied and corrected as part of my editing process. I don’t really like gardening but I do love nature and its beautiful patterns and design.

Here’s a few shots from my most recent Wedding Flowers & Accessories Magazine shoot.

Thanks for looking, for more info on my product photography please go to my website which tells you more about my commercial assignments Lindsay Wakelin Photography.

Nicholas Mc Carthy- One handed pianist

Here are some images from a recent assignment with the delightful and amazingly talented Nicholas McCarthy, he needed some pictures quickly as Nargis magazine were doing a feature about him and wanted a shot for the front cover and also some images to sit alongside the article. We arranged a shoot at my studio one evening and took a series of images which the magazine later went on to use. Nic was born without a right hand and was the first left hand only pianist to graduate from the Royal College of Music in London in its 130 year history. Here are a few of my favourites from the shoot.

Portrait exchange

Summer is a busy time of year for most togs, so it was really nice to take a few hours off and spend it with my friend and fellow tog Jacqui Mellor. We decided to experiment with taking each others portrait in my studio on Friday.

Here are some of the shots taken by Jacqui of me…

And here are a few of my favourites which I took of Jac…

Visit from Princess Anne to Treetops in Colchester

I was delighted when Livability asked me to take pictures of HRH Princess Anne visiting Treetops in Colchester. Livability work with disabled and disadvantaged people to promote choice, independence and opportunity. The charity Livability are trying to raise £190,000 for new equipment in their bathrooms and kitchens of their residents. Princess Anne visits Treetops in Colchester

Below you can see me in action, I accidentally photo bombed another press photographer…
