Simon turned up telling me he felt a bit nervous, he wanted some headshots for his website for another project he is working on and for his personal use. The first image is the one I took when Simon first sat down, I told him not to worry about posing I asked him to tell me a bit about himself and what he has been up to lately, to relax and ignore me as I didn’t want him to focus on me I was just checking the lights. He started to tell me a funny story we both got the giggles, his nerves had subsided so we could then start to take some more serious pics. About half way through Simon asked me if I would mind taking some images of him in his grandads hat (of course I was delighted I love using props) he told me about his grandad and how smart he often used to look he remembers his grandad wearing this hat. I think you will agree the hat suits him…
Here are a few pics from a recent shoot with gorgeous baby Arthur, please excuse the copyright mark on the images. I have different websites to show my different types of photography, to find out more about my family photography go to my website: The Family Photographer
Sometimes I get so caught up with working and doing Photography for other people I forget to take time out to just be playful, get creative and experiment with ideas. I have decided that I need to do this more than I have been, so with the help of my daughter ‘Hope’ we are going to plan some creative shoots. Here are a few from today, I just wanted to start simple and take some time to experiment with light and darkness, shape and form. We used a black backdrop, one light sometimes a piece of white card (as a reflector) a fan and a vape! As is often the case with Photography sometimes the unplanned shots are more interesting than the shots you intended to take so I included a few below.

I first photographed Tim a few years ago for his Over The Hill project , I was delighted when he agreed to another shoot last week. Tim who has Parkinsons Disease started ‘Over the hill’ in 2008 and over the last 8 years he has been Photographed by over 400 Photographers. When I received an email to say that he was wrapping up the project I emailed him straight back and asked if he would be interested in posing for me again.
It’s rare as a Photographer to have the opportunity of someone offering to pose to be completely open minded and flexible, Tim is such a great sport an artist in his own right he is such a charming interesting person to spend time with. I wanted to explore my ideas around visually framing images of fragility and vulnerability he soon wrote back, “Dark, moody, feathers, eggs, naked, bubble wrap??? Are you kidding? Of course l am up for it!!!”

Here are some images from a recent assignment with the delightful and amazingly talented Nicholas McCarthy, he needed some pictures quickly as Nargis magazine were doing a feature about him and wanted a shot for the front cover and also some images to sit alongside the article. We arranged a shoot at my studio one evening and took a series of images which the magazine later went on to use. Nic was born without a right hand and was the first left hand only pianist to graduate from the Royal College of Music in London in its 130 year history. Here are a few of my favourites from the shoot.
The image below is the one they used for the front cover of Nargis Magazine
