Anyone lost a cat in Wivenhoe or Colchester?

This rather handsome fella has been visiting us for the last four – six weeks. He usually arrives first thing in the morning and again in the evening, sometimes he has slept in our garden and other times he has sneaked in through the back door and curled up on our sofa. We have two cats and understandably they feel a bit put out by this over confident intruder but seeing as though he is twice their size they keep their distance and hiss from behind the bushes.

He sits outside on the car or in the garden whining and calling out until someone takes notice of him. Yes, I have fed him as I don’t know if he is homeless or not but I don’t want him to move in as he may already have a home and might just be a bit of a free loader type cat, the type who calls around a few houses for meals and hugs pretending to be homeless.

Despite me telling my daughter not to get attached she has now named him ‘Dexter’. If you know him, or know of someone missing a cat please get in contact.

ps This is not ‘Oswald’ another cat who has gone AWOL in Wivenhoe, we have already checked with owners.

The dead Oaks at Mundun, Essex are a little bit creepy.

It has been claimed that the oak forest in Mundon is first mentioned in the Domesday book. Later, the oaks narrowly missed being cut down for use as masts when a fleet was built to sail against the Spanish Armada. The 14th-century timber-framed Church of St. Mary, built within the remains of the moat of Mundon Hall, and likely on Saxon and Norman foundations, has been disused since the 1970s. Following a long period of remedial work, the church once again re-opened to visitors in August 2009.

Essex Girls In Business Networking Event.

Some may think because the name has the word ‘Essex’ in it that this group of women might possibly all have fake tans and wear white stilettos. In truth it’s actually made up of a diverse mix of business women from all over Essex from one woman bands to franchisee’s. I have been involved with this group since before Xmas 2012 and only have good things to say about it. Being part of EGIB is about being mutually supportive but also helping each other to generate leads and ultimately share business with one another. How refreshing to be able to talk about the birth process and then switch to the subject of managing social networks and no one winces, no one cringes. Its good honest, open stuff. If you haven’t been along I highly recommend it. http://www.essexgirlsinbusiness.com/
