World Photography Day

Did you know its World Photography Day today?

13 years ago I had been made redundant, I had become a single parent and had very little money to support myself and my daughter. I felt I was in a big hole too big to get out of, I felt so helpless and hopeless. It was then I decided to take one of the biggest risk’s I have ever taken in my life and do what I had always secretly wanted to do (but not had the courage to do it) and that was to become a photographer.

With the love, help and support of family & friends and a small bank loan I started my journey. Its been at times a very challenging road to follow (especially through Covid) its also been moving, funny, surprising, rewarding and interesting. It’s taken me out of my comfort zone, and at times pushed me to my limits both physically and emotionally, but I am still here and I have never ever regretted a single moment of it.

My life now is very different, I am so grateful to have a loving partner, have my own photography studio and still have the love and excitement of taking pictures. So today has some meaning for me, it reminds me of how photography helped change my life and for the better and for that I will always be truly thankful.

Heres a pic of me with my first entry level pro camera. ❤️

My first time lapse

Lock down means I can only do product photography but no shoots involving people. I have decided to learn a new skill which I will be able to use with my product but also landscapes. This is my first attempt, its not perfect but it meant I could learn from my mistakes I also learnt to stay patient and always take a flask and chocolate! This is made from 301 single photographs taken over 24 minutes.

Lockdown 2.0 – I can still shoot your products!

So I drank one too many Vodkas on Saturday after hearing the news of another the lock down. I knew it was coming but still felt surprised when it was announced, so now like everyone else I have come to terms with the fact that I can’t do anything about it and just have to make the best of the situation like last time but still it’s so arrrrgggghhhh!

I can’t have people in my studio but I can continue to do product photography, if you have a product or products you sell online and are looking for some cut out or life style shots then please get in touch on: 01206 511986 Please leave a message if I don’t answer and I will ring you back.

You can drop your product off to my studio in Colchester or send via courier and the same to get them back to you.

Various products shot and cut out on to a white background or shot and cut out on to a clear transparent layer. Shots taken for use on websites and in brochures.

The Scallop at Aldeburgh

Is one of my favourite sculptures, designed by local artist Maggi Hambling dedicated to Benjamin Britten (composer who spent much of his life in Aldeburgh). It stands approx 15 feet high and can be found on the beach just up from Aldeburgh town. I love how the light changes how it looks, how clouds can darken the shadows and the sun can make the surface glimmer. As I stood setting up my camera children scurried and peaked out from under it, couples leaned up to take a selfie against it and families gathered around it.
